Starting a business is a labor of love and Jeanine and I try to take advantage of every opportunity that comes our way. We know what we have is strong, but isn't it just the way of things that we need other people to tell us so in order to really believe it?
Let me explain...
On a recent trip to San Francisco we were trying to make as many connections as we could in between photo shoots of our Fall 2015 bags. The stars aligned time to grab a quick lunch with Evan, co-founder and CEO of #weedclub. Weedclub’s mission is to provide a safe platform to make connections in the legitimate Cannabis Community. By the end of our lunch with Evan, we knew there was synergy between us.
Shortly after our visit Evan invited us to pitch at his @420℠ PITCH by WEEDCLUB: Friends in High Places event, held in his offices. This event includes investors, press and other businesses and gives everyone a good idea of what’s going on with new businesses and entrepreneurs in the Cannabis Industry. We decided to accept the invitation – which turned out to be one of the best business decisions we’ve made.
We were one of ten companies to pitch. Each slot was a 4 minute pitch to a panel of 6 judges, then 4 minutes for the panel to grill the presenters on their business. They score each company after each pitch Olympics style, and the company with the highest score wins. And did I mention – we won!
But we won much more than the best pitch. We got to meet incredible people, made priceless connections that will both boost our PR and distribution channels that we otherwise would have had to pound pavement to find, connected with amazing potential investors and we had a great time.
This community is what makes our labor of love something we're loving to do, and we look forward to sharing more of this feeling of triumph with everyone!
